The Engagement Coordinator is charged with the task of creating connections and community for adults and families through personal interaction, innovative programming, and experiences. The position requires creativity, communication skills and leadership abilities and someone who can multi-task, move seamlessly from one project to the next, maintain composure under a variety of circumstances, is comfortable with all modes of communication (phone, text, face to face conversations), and be a welcoming presence.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Strengthen and build connections among congregants to deepen their engagement with the synagogue and inspires a sense of belonging.
• Act as a concierge for new and existing members to determine their areas of interest and facilitate the ongoing process of connecting them to other members and activities at United Hebrew.
• Work with the Membership Engagement Committee to facilitate the formation of small groups, a welcoming committee, caring committee, and other forms of relational engagement.
• Partner with Engagement Directors to develop a congregant-centered perspective and develop strategies to encourage engagement and leadership across a spectrum of ages.
• Work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and lay leaders to implement the synagogue’s on-going programming which may include senior programming, adult education, Israel, book club, social action, interfaith programs, holiday programming, challah baking and additional ongoing programs as they arise.
• Develop a comprehensive volunteer program within the congregation, encompassing volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition.
• Demonstrate concern for and attend to the needs of our congregants; projects a sense of empathy and understanding when interacting with congregants, ensures congregants feel valued for their ideas, passions, and skills.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Jewish Professional experience preferred

• Excellent project management, organizational and managerial skills and can develop a realistic and thorough plan for achieving key objectives.
• Ability to be thoughtful and creative.
• Ability to work as a team player in the life of the congregation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Can speak articulately and clearly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get a spoken message across that has the desired effect and is able to write clearly and succinctly to effectively articulate a message.
• Knowledge and comfort with Reform Jewish practices; understanding and/or experience.

This position is full time; Flexible hours, some weekends and evenings expected
